One Year Later

A year ago today, we found out that we were having a baby girl! However we also found out that she had a rare condition called a sacrococcygeal teratoma. We took the news in stride and made plans to go to a specialist in this area in Philadelphia. Within a few days, we flew up to Philadelphia for a complete round of tests and scans. It was the worst day of my life. At the end of the day, they told us that the teratoma had put to much stress on her heart and that her little heart just couldn't handle it. We were devastated!

We took an emergency flight back to Macon where we had a beautiful little girl, named Isabel Faye Lee. Our moms both called her Isabel after we found out we were having a girl, without talking to each other, so we felt like that had to be her name. Her middle name was after my grandmother whom David and I loved very much who passed away a few months before. She was beautiful and we loved her so much! In 22 weeks, she had grown to be a beautiful little girl. We meet her and held for our first and only time on May 10, 2008. She was one pound and 7.5 ounces and 8.75 inches long. She was perfect!
